Harvard Business Review Article Instructions

Subject: Pre-work for Session

Dear Participant,

By now you have already completed the on-line Herrmann Brain Dominance Instrument (HBDI). You probably know something about left brain/right brain thinking. To give you a little more background on thinking preferences, please read the Harvard Business Review article "Putting Your Company's Whole Brain to Work" before our upcoming meeting. As you read the article, please consider the following questions:

  1. What are the key points of the article?
  2. What are your thoughts on the notion of creative abrasion?
  3. What typically happens when people don't understand preferences?
  4. What is the comfortable clone syndrome?
  5. What can you do to ensure both divergent and convergent discussions in your staff meetings?
  6. Do you have explicit operating guidelines? Do you need them?

We will begin the meeting with a dialogue around these questions. I look forward to working with you.

Margaret Greenberg
